These tags are for anyone wanting inspiration for art journal pages. We have a FaceBook group called Art Journal Techniques and I'm trying to inspire everyone who has lost their mojo or needs some inspiration. So each week I'll post a different technique for anyone to try.

Today's journal page was again using white gesso over sprays to see what comes up through it. Unfortunately it wasn't as vibrant as I'd hoped, however I did only use gold shades so I guess that played a part in it. I'm also using silhouette images against the backgrounds, I'm loving how they are looking, whether they are black, white or gold!

Art Journal Page Streamed Live on Ustream - Bite my PINK Butt

Hi everyone!

On today's stream I was 'told' to use watercolours as a base, then magicals, do some drippage and finish off with a focal image. So that's what we did! And we had fun doing it :)

Now, I'm no watercolourist and I don't have a lot of good quality watercolours so I was limited with the colour palette today.

Art Journal Page 187

Hi everyone!

Today's art journal page was created using the layering techniques from my Tag challenge number 1 'layers' over on my Art Journal Techniques FaceBook page (see link below).

Art Journal Techniques FaceBook Group

Although I used shades of green on the tag, I thought I'd change it up a bit to show that when choosing a background technique you don't always have to follow the steps exactly. It's more about putting your own spin on the technique. That's why I used shades of purple (I don't usually use purple).

You can watch the full process video on YouTube by clicking HERE.

Products used:

Liquitex Professional gesso
Reeves 'violet' acrylic paint
Liquitex Basics 'brilliant purple' acrylic paint
Delta Ceramcoat 'pale lilac'
Reeves 'mars black' acrylic paint
KaiserCraft 'script' stamp
Ranger 'jet black' archival ink
VersaMark clear embossing ink
Ranger clear Emboss-It pen
Scrap paper
Chromacryl gel medium
The Crafters Workshop 'mini mod spirals' stencil
The Crafters Workshop 'cherry blossoms' stencil
The Crafters Workshop 'stencil vine' stencil
Americana Deco Art 'fairies' stencil
Liquitex Professional Iridescent medium
Ranger 'gold tinsel' embossing powder

Having Fun With Shipping Tags - Layers #1

Hi everyone!

Well, after all those ICADs and journal pages I think I was drained of all creativity! Actually, I've been cleaning windows and my craft room, that's why I've been away for a couple of weeks.

I was playing around with backgrounds on shipping tags before I started cleaning and thought I would create a weekly/monthly (don't know yet) challenge over on my Art Journal Techniques FaceBook page.

What I thought I would do was upload a shipping tag that I'd played around with on YouTube, post the link to my FaceBook Art Journal Techniques page and start it off with this as the first challenge. You could even go further with the challenge and create a journal page using the techniques used for the shipping tag. You can join the Art Journal Techniques FaceBook group by clicking HERE.

You can watch the full YouTube video by clicking HERE.

So...for today's tag I decided to play around with layers.
