Precious Moments Paper Bag Mini Album

This is my latest mini album complete with photos & embellishments. This is the first of many minis for my granddaughter, Amelia. I'm hoping to document (written & graphic) certain moments in her life and give the albums to her when she's older.

This, the first of the minis, is of her birth, christening and various events throughout her young life.

The following is a list of the main products and various measurements used throughout the mini:

Paper used - Cosmo Cricket's Joy Ride mini deck

Paper bags - 3 1/4" by 5 1/4"

Binding hinges - 3 1/2" x 3 1/4" scored at 1", 1 3/4", 2 1/2"

Front & back cover chipboard cut at 6 1/2" x 3 3/4"

Front & back designer paper each cut at 9" x 4 3/4" scored 1/2" on two long and one short edge
The wallet tag pockets were made using the dimensions given by Kathy Orta in the video series on her Tim Holtz paper bag mini album. Click here for Kathy's tutorial.

The binding system I used is a variation on Laura Denison's technique. Check out the tutorial by clicking here.

The fabric loop flower was made following Jules' tutorial. Check out the tutorial here.

  3. Hi Deni
Nice to see another Aussie on here LOL. We are so few and far between.
I bought the paper bags from a local store in East Maitland (can’t remember the name). It’s a wedding invitations store. I went with my daughter (she’s getting married in September) as she was looking for ideas for her table settings and such, and I came across these bags - they were expensive, $10 for a pack of about 50.
Yes, that binding technique is so good, I think I could have even enlarged it a tad more!

  5. Hey Deni!
I must say that I like all the different types of paper collections the US scrappers can get their hands on so readily, and I do occasionally buy some of them but it works out so expensive so I just pick and choose. I have a small stash which I tend to not use as readily, but my theory is that if you like the paper collection - use it! No matter if it's years old!!!! You don't have to have the same paper as everyone else, you can make it work with what you've got. So just go for it! Trust your instincts!
Laura's projects are so beautiful and her tutorial instructions are pretty good to follow, so just purchase the tutorial on line and use whatever papers you have - you'll be amazed at how good it looks :)
