Art Journal Page 215

Hi everyone!

I wanted to play with my distress inks today because ever since I've bought the distress oxide inks I have ignored them completely! I wanted to see how a large background would look using just distress inks. So I really had fun creating the background and it looked so soft that angels and mermaids came to mind. I knew I had a mermaid stencil - just one, and I knew I had either stamps or stencils with wings, hence the mer-angel!

Then I had to go and use embossing powder, didn't I! I curse the mess every time I use it but never remember until it's too late and I have a huge mess of embossing powder everywhere! Just as well the end result is worth it LOL.

Art Journal Page 212

Hi everyone!

Once again I'm trying to work out these Dylusions ink sprays! Trying to get them to NOT react when I'm trying to work over the top of them. So a friend asked me whether or not I let the sprays dry and set for 24 hours. Knowing me, I did NOT. So I decided to try this. Thanks Theresa :)

I applied the heavy gesso, let dry, sprayed the Dylusions sprays and let it sit for almost 30 hours!

When I started applying the clear gesso (I think I packed it on too thickly) you could see it reactivating and coming through the gesso. So I let it dry completely by itself overnight - AGAIN - and applied a thin coat of gesso using a brush this time, and it seemed to work fine - fingers crossed!

Once the clear gesso had dried I then started working on the page by applying white gesso sponged over a stencil - YES! Well, it wasn't a BRIGHT white but white enough to make the colours around it pop! Happy days!

Journal page - Cone Flowers - LIVE STREAM

Hi everyone!

For today's live YouTube stream we created a journal page in my 8"x5 1/2" bee creative watercolor journal.

I wanted to test out the NeoColor II's, Gelatos, Scribble Sticks and Distress Crayons, activating with both water and white gesso. I really love the soft effect this technique gives.

But knowing me, you don't really see much of the background on the completed page with all the added layers. Oh well!

For the full LIVE YouTube recording you can CLICK HERE to watch.
