Tim Holtz Storage Unit (inspired by Harry Potter Wizard's Collection)

Hi everyone! It's been soooooo long since I've put a project up on my blog - so sorry! It's just that I haven't been doing much but doing DT card projects and simply just messing around in my craft room not accomplishing anything much.

That is until I was challenged by Felicia and Eileen to make the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection box! I procrastinated on that one - liked the concept, started making the drawers for the bottom, then how I was going to make the drawer surrounds, got confused and put it aside for a while. I've only just come back and forged ahead!

Below are some pics of the project during the stages of being built. I also have a series on YouTube on the making of the storage unit, enjoy! Oh, and if you want to sit through a series on the making of this project, here's the link.

  3. I watched ALL of your videos creating this awesome project. Love them! I have one question. What is the name of the tape you used to create the boxes? The tape used to adhere the box sides to the bottom? Please don't tell me you created this tape by cutting up strips of paper, folding them, then adhering strips of double sided tape to the strips, LOL. I'm way too lazy to do that :/

    1. Hi Leslie
I'm sorry to have to tell you that that is exactly what I have done. They are strips of kraft cardstock lined with Scor-tape.
It's much quicker to cut long strips, adhere the double-sided tape, then cut to whatever length is needed. Once in a while when I'm watching a YouTube or Ustream show I'll sit there and mindlessly make up some strips.
      Thanks

  4. Amazing! I stumbled across your page on Facebook and am simply in awe.

Do you have an Etsy store, or something similar, where you sell your patterns? I would love to create this for my son for Christmas. He is in the Army and it would be perfect to hold his brass in.

    1. Hi Judianne
I do not have an Etsy store and I did say I would have something up for this but as yet I do not. I might just put up the dimensions (if I can find them) and you could watch the YouTube series on the making of it to help?
Will try to get measurements posted within this post ASAP.
      Hope this helps

  5. Dimensions were sufficient for me, plus their parking is a nice bonus when you need to quickly stop by, pull something out of storage, and jet off.
